Next Event

Dear peace hikers,

On Sunday, November 16th 2025, we will hike togetherfor greater tolerance, environmental protection and world peace and we are happy, if you have time and walk and meet with us!🌳

"Hiking for Peace," together with "Lobau Bleibt" and "Rettet die Lobau – Natur statt Beton" is organizing a hike through the floodplain:

For greater tolerance, environmental protection, and world peace!

No to the Lobau Tunnel!

It's important to show that, just like in 1984, there is a strong civil society that is committed to the Danube Floodplains National Park! The ecological balance must not be disrupted by a tunnel!

There will be cakes for everyone and you can enjoy them during the break.
We are especially looking forward to many interesting conversations!

When:

Sunday, November 16th 2025

Meeting point:

The Lobau hike takes approximately 4 hours including breaks, with a walking time of 2.5 hours. The distance is approximately 10 km to the National Park House. We will cross the Danube wetlands to the memorial for forced laborers in the Lobau Port.

Here we can relax and end the day, get to know each other better, and discuss upcoming projects.

Basics for hiking in Vienna with the core group:

Please chose your footwear carefully, and wear shoes with a good tread. The association accepts no liability for any accidents caused by poor choice of footwear or for any other reason. We will be hiking uphill and downhill, on concrete paths and forest paths with gravel. Please keep this in mind during the tour.
We will walk at a moderate pace. We want to walk as a group and set a sign for peace together. Therefore, we try not to walk scattered all over the place. We ask for your help in order to do this! We will always wait or slow down so that everyone can keep up.
Markus will walk in the front – please stay behind. At the end of the group Sabine, Maria and Sylvia take care, that nobody gets lost – please stay in front and tell them, if you need more time. If you have any health or other problems, please contact Isabella. She is a doctor and will help you.
Children and dogs are welcome. Dogs must be kept on a leash in Vienna. Every dog owner is liable for his dog.
The current Covid rules and general rules of conduct in the forest are assumed to be known and are to be followed by everyone. The association accepts no liability.
